WHY USE THIS VIEWER

Review STL game assets without uploading them

A browser-native viewer gives you a fast first check while the original game asset stays on your device.

01

Free to use

Open a STL file without an account or generation credits.

02

Private by design

The selected STL file is parsed locally instead of being uploaded to a server.

03

Made for game assets

Inspect STL geometry before importing a character, prop, or environment asset into a game engine.

04

Fast visual feedback

Orbit, zoom, reset the camera, and review the asset before taking the next production step.

WHO IT IS FOR

For game creators who need a safe STL visual check

Use this page before importing a STL asset into an engine, sharing a draft with a teammate, or reviewing an AI-generated game model.

01

Indie game developers

Quickly inspect a downloaded or self-generated STL asset before adding it to a prototype.

02

AI game creators

Review generated 3D assets locally while keeping unpublished project files on your own device.

03

3D artists

Check exported STL geometry without opening a full DCC application.

04

Game teams and reviewers

Share a simple local review step for STL characters, props, and environment assets.

HOW TO USE THE STL VIEWER

Inspect a STL game model in a few local steps

The viewer reads the selected file in your browser and starts a local preview without uploading the model.

  1. 1

    Choose a STL file

Click Open STL file and select a local .stl asset.

  2. 2

    Wait for local parsing

The browser reads the STL data and prepares its available geometry and appearance information locally.

  3. 3

    Inspect the model

Orbit around the asset, zoom into details, reset the camera, or turn on auto-rotate.

  4. 4

    Continue your game workflow

Use the visual check to decide whether the asset is ready for your AI game or engine pipeline.

SUPPORTED FILES & FEATURES

What this free STL viewer supports

STL is a geometry-only format. This viewer focuses on local mesh inspection; STL does not carry the materials, textures, or animation data available in richer game asset formats.

01

Supported: binary and ASCII .stl

Open common binary or ASCII STL files directly from your device.

02

Supported: triangle mesh geometry

Inspect the surface shape and triangle-based mesh structure of the asset.

03

Supported: local shaded preview

Review the STL with browser-side lighting and a neutral preview material.

04

Supported: local orbit controls

Orbit, zoom, reset the view, and turn on auto-rotation for a quick visual check.

05

Not supported: textures or material libraries

STL does not include the texture and material data needed for a textured preview.

06

Not supported: animation clips

STL is static geometry, so animation playback is not available in this format.

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT

Why local-only STL viewing matters

A STL file can contain unpublished game art, licensed assets, or early prototypes. Local parsing keeps this first review step simple and reduces unnecessary data exposure.

Select locally → parse in the browser → inspect the STL model → keep the original file on your device

Unpublished prototype

Review a new STL player asset before the art direction is ready to share outside the team.

AI game asset

Check an AI-generated STL prop for visible geometry and appearance issues before engine import.

Licensed file

Preview a licensed STL file locally without creating another copy on a third-party upload service.

FAQ

Questions about the free online STL viewer

Is this STL viewer free?

Yes. You can open a STL file locally without creating an account or using generation credits.

Is my STL file uploaded?

No. This page reads the selected STL file in the browser and does not upload it to the Seele server.

Does the viewer need an internet connection?

After the page has loaded, parsing and preview are designed to run locally without requesting your STL model or its local resources from the network.

What STL files can I open?

The page accepts binary and ASCII .stl files. It focuses on mesh geometry and does not expect companion materials or textures.

Why does my STL fail to open?

Confirm that the STL is valid, complete, and no larger than 250 MB. Reduce triangle density or split an extremely detailed asset if browser parsing runs out of memory.

Why does my model look black or incomplete?

STL contains mesh geometry but not a full material or texture setup. The viewer applies a neutral local material, so the preview is intended for shape inspection rather than final look development.

Why is my animation not playing?

STL stores static triangle geometry and does not contain animation clips. Use GLB or GLTF when you need to preview an animated game asset.

Does this viewer work on mobile browsers?

Modern mobile browsers with WebGL can open the viewer, but large models use more memory and may render more slowly. For complex assets, a desktop browser is usually more reliable.

What should I do if a large file fails to load?

Keep the file under 250 MB, remove unused geometry or resources, reduce texture resolution when applicable, and try a desktop browser with more available memory.
